Minister.
Mariam Kvrivishvili Sh In terms of prices, tourism in general has the greatest positive transmission effect. According to the minister, more than 130,000 people are employed in this sector and virtually every family in the country is directly or indirectly dependent or involved in the tourism sector.
"Accordingly, when every year we see increasing flows, including in the capital, regions, villages - people of foreign nationality are observed everywhere, however, it is always noted that Georgia is an exceptionally good, successful example of how our government was able to ensure such rapid growth of the sector with a balanced immigration policy, as well as with a liberal visa policy" - noted the Minister of Economy.
According to Mariam Kvrivishvili, citizens of 96 countries enter Georgia without a visa, however, approximately the same number of citizens - 97 countries - need a visa.
"In close cooperation with the Ministry of Internal Affairs, in fact, we observed and are observing the Inamika, which, along with the growth of tourism, can increase the level of migration in the country. Therefore, at the end of last year, the government made a decision, within the framework of which, among other things, the existing visa regulation was tightened and an additional restriction was imposed for citizens of 17 countries - they additionally need a one-year valid residence permit, especially from the Gulf countries, in order to cross the country without a visa, otherwise, if this period is less than one year, they will need a visa" - said the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development.
